Up there to Santa Serena
Peace and tranquility on the plateau
The first part of the ride is easy enough, with a short uphill stretch, followed by the descents and plains on the west side of the province.
The climb leading to the plateau of Santa Serena, in the Lepini Mountains, is one of the most feared by cyclists in the area. Starting at an altitude of178 meters above sea level, you’ll get up to 1083 meters with an average gradient of 6.9%.
The first part of the climb is fairly easy at the entrance into the village of Supino, but then the climb starts to settle in at around 9-10% average gradient, with some spots reaching 20%.
A great effort is rewarded with the beautiful landscape that we find on the summit, an endless plateau, totally unspoiled.
